Posessed
One day as Jesus stepped out of the boat, running to meet Him came a man from the tombs;
Having demons within, his life worse than grim, he seemed to be destined for doom.
No longer to be controlled though men tried, all efforts seemed feeble and vain;
Nothing found that could bind him, hand or foot, he even broke iron and chain.
No one strong enough to subdue him, he constantly among tombs and hill;
Cutting his flesh with stones, crying out day and night, never was he to be still.
Seeing Jesus from afar he ran to Him, and before Him he fell to the knee;
The demons knowing their time was up, would try their final plea.
At the top of their voice they shouted,’ What do You want with me Son of the Most High?’;
‘Swear to me that You won’t torture me!’, He was fearful, so this was his cry.
Jesus ordered the demon to come out of the man, but He also asked for its name;
It replied,’My name’s legion, for we’re many.’, the mans life Jesus about to claim.
Again and again he begged Jesus, out of the region not to send him away;
A large herd of pigs on a nearby hillside, to them seemed a good place to stay.
‘Send us among the pigs let us enter them’, is what the demons did beg;
If they had known what would take place next, I believe they’d of asked to renege.
After Jesus’ permission they came out of the man, and into the pigs they did go;
But pigs apparently have more sense than men, sow would not live a life down this low.
The herd of pigs about 2000 in #, rushed down into the lake and were drowned;
Those tending the pigs ran off to report this news, all over the country and town.
To see just what had happened the people went out, and when to Jesus they came;
Seeing the man sitting dressed and in his right mind, they were frightened to their own shame.
The witnesses told the others what had happened, to the man and the pigs as well;
They then plead with Jesus to leave their region, their fears they could not quell.
As the Lord was getting back into the boat, the man begged with Him to go;
But Jesus had him go to his family and tell, all that happened and the mercy he was shown.
All Decopolis was amazed at this mans story, perhaps knowng now Jesus devine;
It reminds me you can cast demons into them, but don’t cast your pearls before swine.
I’m sorry if the last line sounds funny, maybe even a bit of a pun;
But it’s really written in God’s word, it was said by His only son.
